Brands recalled by Stratford Care Inc.

The maker of cat and dog Omega-3 supplements sold under several brands is recalling certain products over concerns they may have dangerously elevated levels of vitamin A, according to a company recall posted by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Florida-based Stratford Care Inc. said the voluntary recall came as a response to a single report of a dog experiencing symptoms of vitamin A toxicity.

“Ingestion of elevated levels can lead to health issues depending on the level of vitamin A and the length of exposure,” the company said in its recall. “Vitamin A toxicity may include general malaise, anorexia, nausea, peeling skin, weakness, tremors, convulsions, paralysis, and death.”
